Privacy policy
Your things stay with you
In short. iowndis runs on your phone. We have no server your data goes to, no user accounts and no analytics. The app reads Gmail read-only, analyses messages on your phone and keeps only purchase information from them. Nobody but you sees it; we never sell it or use it for advertising.
1. Data controller
The controller is OUMM Arvind Juneja, ul. Warszawska 21, 08-443 Sobienie-Jeziory, Poland, tax ID (NIP) 5321913971. Privacy contact: arvind@oumm.pl.
In practice the data you put into the app is stored and processed on your device and does not reach us. This policy describes what the app does with it and which services it connects to.
2. What the app processes
- What you enter or add: items, names, prices, purchase dates, condition, notes, collections, household members, photos.
- Receipts, files and product photos: text is read on the phone (iOS built-in text recognition). Scanned receipt images are not kept; item photos are kept if you add them.
- Gmail, if you connect it (see section 3).
- App settings: notifications, chosen views, the state of the Gmail connection.
3. Gmail
Connecting Gmail is optional and can be ended at any time. The app asks Google only for read-only
access (gmail.readonly). It never sends, deletes, moves or labels messages.
What the app does with Gmail access
- It searches for purchase messages in the period you choose: from shops, marketplaces, carriers and payment providers, and with typical subjects (order confirmation, shipment, invoice).
- It downloads those messages directly from Google to your phone and analyses them there. Message content is held in memory only while it is analysed and is not stored.
- It stores on the phone only the extracted purchase information: shop, date, order number, products, prices, shipment status, offer and product-image links contained in the message, and short excerpts (up to 200 characters) that show where a piece of information came from.
- On later syncs it first reads only the sender and subject of new messages and downloads the content only of purchase messages.
- The access token is kept in the iOS Keychain on your device. Your email address is not stored; the app keeps only a one-way hash of it to recognise the connected account.
What the app does not do
- It does not send Gmail data to iowndis servers or to anyone else.
- It does not use it for advertising, sell it or pass it to data brokers.
- It does not use it to determine creditworthiness or to train artificial intelligence models.
- Nobody reads your messages.
iowndis’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How to end access
In the app: Profile → Connected accounts → Disconnect (revokes access at Google and removes the token from the phone) and “Delete Gmail data” (removes the purchases and items imported from Gmail). You can also remove access on your Google Account permissions page.
4. Services the app connects to
| When | Where | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Connecting and importing Gmail | Google (sign-in, Gmail API) | Message queries; Google sees them as for any app you gave access |
| Product photos of purchases | The shop’s image servers (e.g. Allegro, Amazon) | A plain download of an image whose address was in the message; no cookies |
| “Get description and photos” | The offer page in the in-app browser | As in any browser; the shop’s page may store cookies in the app and its own privacy policy applies. The description, photos and specifications are saved only after you approve them |
| A pasted product link | The linked page | One page download, no cookies |
| “Current listings” | Allegro, OLX, Vinted | Opens their search in the browser or their app, with a phrase you see and can change |
The app contains no analytics or advertising tools. In the test version (TestFlight) Apple may share crash reports and feedback with us if you allow it in TestFlight or send feedback yourself.
5. Where and how long data is kept
All data is on your device, protected by iOS encryption. If iCloud or computer backup is on, the app’s data is included as set in Apple’s settings. Data is kept until you delete it: in the app (Profile → Privacy and data → Delete all data, or delete by source) or by deleting the app.
6. Legal bases
Providing the app’s features at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and your consent to connect Gmail (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by disconnecting the account.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability (Profile → Privacy and data → Export data (JSON)), objection and withdrawal of consent. Most of them you can exercise directly in the app; for anything else write to arvind@oumm.pl. You can also lodge a complaint with the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
8. Children
The app is not intended for people under 16.
9. Changes
We will announce material changes to this policy in the app. The current version is always at this address.
